Hurrah! The World Literacy Day is here again

FUTO will join the rest of the world to mark this year’s World Literacy Day with the theme “Literacy and Multilingualism”.

World Literacy Day which comes up every September 8 was declared International Literacy Day by UNESCO on 26th October, 1966 at the 14th session of UNESCO’s General Conference. It was celebrated for the first time in 1967.

The aim of World Literacy Day is to highlight the importance of literacy to individual, communities and societies. The FUTO library having fully realized that literacy is a basic human right is therefore poised to promoting literacy campaign aimed at inculcating reading culture, habits, developing and liberalizing the human mind and equipping us to be up-to-date. FUTO library invites you to come and participate in the programme of this year’s world Literacy Day scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2019 at E-library quadrangle.

We will treat you on symposium and spelling competition in Igbo.
